The large number of mature umbrella pine trees (Pinus pinea) and water scarcity dictated an ecological approach that is sustainable environmentally, inspired by the landscape character of Mount Lebanon foothills. The landscape relies on native herbaceous species and aromatic mountain herbs limiting exotic ornamentals to strategic locations. The key design challenge was to overcome the steep incline of the site, to maintain landscape fluidity both visual and spatial between the formal lawn area and swimming pool, family garden and children play area.
