He wanted a modern and spacious house that has “a lot of glass walls that capture the spectacular views and topography.” She wanted a cozy cottage for weekend retreats, and “it must be traditional to reflect our roots- I’ve traveled a lot and I want to be myself in my old age.”
The rural site has a 45-degree slope and is accessible from its narrow roadside at the top. It contains a mature set of very tall pine trees that have survived fierce battles during the civil war.
The solution: an access pavilion with car parking on top, with an elevator to the main reception level and patio 18 meters below.
An access pavilion with car parking on top, with an elevator to the main reception level and patio 18 meters below. The main residence is an inverted villa opening to a 25-meters lap pool that overlooks a new citrus grove and the curving horizon of the Mediterranean.
